Theatre artist Honoured Culture Worker of the Kyrgyz Republic. Born on 15 November 1953 in the village of Kochkor, Kochkor district, Naryn region. In 1976 he graduated from the Frunze Art School and in 1981 from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography. In 1981-1985. - Artist of the Osh Kyrgyz Drama Theatre, since 1985 - chief artist of the Kyrgyz State Academic Drama Theatre. Since 1990 - member of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic. Y.Nurmatov is a recognised master of scenography who has staged productions in the leading theatres of the Kyrgyz Republic. He has participated in national, regional and international exhibitions. His works are in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitiev
